The FMBA (Freeride Mountain Bike Association) is back for 2011, and this year, things are going BIG! Cam Zink took home the overall win last year, but I have a feeling that there will be come heavy hitters stepping up for his title. The FMBA just released their “Teaser” video for 2011, as well as their full schedule. Sit back and enjoy!

Ray’s “Odd Couple” Video contest just ended, and just like always, the videos didn’t disappoint. Ray’s decided to change things up this year though. Instead of having a Pro BMX rider match up with a Pro MTB and collab for a video, they just matched 2 MTB riders. From my point of view, that kinda defeats the whole “Odd Couple” situation, but nonetheless, the riding was amazing. I’ve posted the 2nd place video of Aaron Chase and Mike Montgomery. The word on the streets and online seems to be that these two should have won, and I couldn’t agree more. But either way, it’s some great footage. Enjoy!

Our UK boys, Matt Jamieson and Toff have been working hard this winter… Here’s a few extra pics and a sequence from the web edit I posted earlier this month where Matt pulls this tech 180 cleanly.

Adam Hauck is back!

pic by Nick BrandrethInterview: One of the best all around riders in the MTB scene has been sidelined for 8 months. In those 8 months Adam Hauck (Black Market) has had 2 surgeries on his wrist and spent the majority of that time in various casts and off his bike. Just this last Tuesday Adam’s doctor gave him clearance to get back to riding. I spoke with Adam yesterday to see how his wrist is feeling and what his plans are for 2011. Adam told me that after his first long session the wrist was solid and felt back to normal. Although a full day of pumping the ramps in his backyard wore him out a little quicker then before. He also stated that, “I still have most of my tricks.” Which is a testament to how good of a rider Adam is. (Editors note: After 8 months off I might forgot how to bunnyhop!) Adam is working on a welcome back edit that should be out on the intrawebs within a week or so. Currently Adam is working out his plans for 2011 and I gaurantee we will be seeing a lot from him this year! Welcome back Adam!

Thanks to Chris Olivier for sending this over…

I just received an e mail from our Japanese distributor who let me know about this event headed for Nor Cal next month. Look for “Osaka Funny” Takahiro Hizon to be throwin’ Molly Hatchet’s at the other competitors…

This will be a rad contest to see so if you’re in the Bay Area… GO, Cheer, Party!!!

The event will be held on April 30th, 2011 in San Francisco, California in the iconic Justin Herman Plaza from 11am-4pm. We are inviting top riders from around the world to compete. The winner in each of the 2 categories will be awarded $1,000.

The two competition disciplines that make up Red Bull Ride + Style are:

Track race:
For the fastest fixed gear racers, a course will pit two racers at a time against each other, with an elimination-style race to determine the fastest fixed gear racer.

Freestyle:
For the freestyle riders, we will have a course of five unique obstacle features, and riders will be judged for their tricks and style by members of the fixed gear industry. In addition to the fixed gear element of the event, we will be working with San Francisco’s top street artists to add elements and imagery to the course.

Check out the riders list below!

Freestyle:
Tom La Marche, Steven Jensen, Joshua Boothby, Jakob Santos, Tyler Johnson, Teppei “Nasty” Iwabuchi, Yuhei “Marco” Hirose, Michael Chacon, Justin “Congo” Mitchell, Matthew Spencer, Matt Reyes, Matt Montoya, Scott Horton, Gus Molina, DJ Mull, Miles Mathia, Daniel Torres, Brad Parker, Joe McKeag, Jamil Gray, Kozo, Osaka Funny, Kenny Arimoto, Devan Council, Edward “Wonka” Laforte…

Racers:
Austin Horse, Rainier Schaefer, Crihs Thormann, James Newman, Wilis Johnson, Steve Tortorelli, Garrett Chow, Fergus Tanaka, Robin Song, Chas Christiansen, Marc Marino, Andre Kivijarvi, Hernan Montenegro, Alex Farioletti, Walton Brush, Blake Van Knopka, Matchew Henery…

Just had to post this up for my home town! Tony Ennis got behind the lens and put together a mixtape of San Diego shredders. Riders include: Lahsaan Kobza, Hoang Tran, JJ Palmere, Tony Neyer, Garrett Reynolds, Dennis Enarson, and Ty1 Morrow. Look out for some SERIOUS moves!

Kalin just sent me this video of Andreu Lacondeguy shredding Cam White’s jumps… This video is rad as fuck because of the pure moto style. The Nac 3 is ridiculous and I like the face he’s running our bar and stem, who care’s if the logo’s blacked out at 5:20 after he finally bends his Bada Booms after the ejection you see in the screen capture below. Buckle up for the ride…
