Michael Hellberg out of Malaga, Spain just put together this quick edit. After 3 months of rain it’s time to try out his new Contraband. He makes that rough track flow pretty well.
Simply AMAZING riding from two of the top street shredders out there; Nathan Williams, and Dakota Roche. I’m really liking the Smith-up to tailwhip! Sit back and enjoy.
Thomas Bike Shop recently had a good fixie street session, and Brad from Fixed Love had his GoPro running to capture all the moves. Some sweet street shredding going on, and it all culminates with a game of Fixie Broom Ball!
I had all intentions of heading to Taipei for last week’s bike show… that was until about 12 hours before my flight was due to board when I decided to wait a week or two for the nuclear situation in Japan to stabilize a bit… the last thing I need is to get caught a some random 30 day quarantine flying to or from Taiwan. It was a tough decision to stay home as I knew I had a couple of long awaited prototypes that would be ready to show for the first time.
The first item on this list is our fgfs specific frame: The Street Fiend… I have been keeping this one under wraps since I first decided to draw it. This is the frame I wanted to build when we built the NSF but decided to go a bit more traditional with our first offering but still burly enough to thrash on without fear of buckling.
The Street Fiend features low slung fgfs geometry, butted chromoly tubing, super-short chainstays with heat-treated Taper-Lock drop outs, plenty of barspin clearance in all sizes, a mid bb and 26 & 700C compatible.
Colors: Flat Blue, Flat Red or Semi-Gloss Black.
Sizes: Small (14″/355.6mm seat tube)
Medium (16″/406mm seat tube)
Large (18″/457mm seat tube)
More details soon as we get to ride it!
The 2nd item on this list is the 22.2mm Underboss stem. Features full CNC’d 6061 T6 construction, 6mm washered hardware and 6 colors.
Finally… an actual photo of the new bar graphics and colors.
This is still one of the original Roam proto’s but we just wanted to show the clear raw finish that will be offered when production rolls off the line.
Molly Hatchet’s in Raw… 2″ or 3″.
Now at least the samples are on their way to the States for proper photos and shredding… can’t wait!!!
One of my favorite things about today’s technology is the ability to connect with any number of people world wide instantly thru social networking avenues like Facebook, Blogger and all the other action sports network and video sites… the problem is, that takes time to create original content like photos and webedits which takes time away from all the other aspects of running Black Market.
That being said, I’d like to introduce you to Kalin Law… he’s from the San Diego area and has been riding for over 10 years. He started out racing and riding BMX for 7 years and made the switch MTB for the last 3. Kalin has an original riding style that’s more style than tricks that’s entertaining to watch. Kalin will be helping me keep our Blog and Facebook current and exciting as well as shooting some photos and video.
I’m also stoked to say this is finally looking to be the year we can actually get out and travel to some more events and races as well as sponsoring a few events. Mondo is at the Keysville Classic this weekend with our E-Z-Up, one of the Roam Proto’s and his Killswitch supporting one of the industry’s longest running events .
Keep an eye out for Kalin to be content lurking or fastplanting his way into your hearts.
FMX Godfather Mike Metzger introduced me to a Russian trials rider named Nikita Misyulya who was spending the winter in the 909 and looking for a bike. We hooked him up with a good deal on a Malice which turns out to be more than a good deal for us. Check out Nikita riding dirt with a few FMX guys out cross training.
Riding in snow is sketchy. Riding snow while brakeless is even sketchier. But to lay down some INSANE moves……thats just ridiculous! Black Market “Made Man” Pavel Alyokhin, a.k.a. “Vishneviy” spent a few hours filming on some big, snow covered jumps. Needless to say, the outcome was gold! This guys got plenty of moves, and he isn’t stopping any time soon!!!!! Check the banger……..looks like Greg Watts has some competition coming his way!
Sam Pilgrim and a large group of other pros from the UK made it out to Cali this past couple of weeks to escape the weather. Sam just got a shiny new camera so he decided to bust it out and get a nice edit going. From San Diego, to the Bay Area, Sam kills everything in his path. The vid is full of great riding, and I even managed to get behind his lens and film for him. Hope you enjoy!
