When you see Lisa… be sure to buy her a beer and congratulate her on another top finish in Pro Women’s DH. She drove from Santa Cruz to Co. at least 2 times this year for the love of the sport.
Vishnivey sent some photos from Russia. Here’s a quick webedit from a dirt contest in the Ukraine that he takes home the top spot and a blow-up doll for his troubles. One of these days I’m going to get him to write something to go along with these photos but for now enjoy.
True trail boss… Mike Saavedra strikes a MySpace pose in the Rubidoux sky.
Justin Henninger goes really FAST and this is the outcome on the big 2nd set.
If there’s one person in So. Cal. always finding a spot to sculpt the unforgiving Riverside brick red “eat your skin of your bones” dirt into absolute master pieces of shovel work… it’s Mike Saavedra. From his Blue Bench creation to his new semi-secret spot in Santa Monica, next to the pier. Here’s a sample of what’s to come… tomorrow promises to be ridiculous!!!
I just talked to Lisa and she’s on her way to practice right now… she’s had a hard time coming to terms with the giant jumps on the Sol Vista course. If you want to know why… watch this!!!
Bigelow drops in from the a Ruben wallride on the opposite wall right into this newly learned flair… Go Big’s!!!
I made the trip Woodward yesterday with Chad from Index Ink to meet up with Bigelow and ride with the kids. Like I suspected… it was hot as Hell once we got there but the new taller, steeper lip on the foam pit and resi and perfectly groomed dirt jumps made it worth the impending heatstroke.
Andrew and Mama Big’s are at Woodward West training for the next 2 weeks and he’s already learned flairs… here’s a sample of yesterday’s shred sesh.
The East Coast’s most progressive bike park and mountain biking’s most successful production company have joined forces for the production of NWD 10 “Dust &Bones.”
“Being on the brink of the 10th film in the NWD series is monumental for us. We are super stoked to have Highland Mountain Bike Park to add to our world class group of sponsors.” says Derek Westerlund Freeride Entertainment’s founder. “Highland’s approach to their park is exactly what we were looking for. They are really targeting the more advanced rider and are creating a next level bike park. Dave Smutok and his crew have been doing some really cool work and it fits perfectly with making a film at the level we do. I have always been fired up on Dave’s riding and vision for building and being innovative.
Highlands owner Mark Hayes has the same sentiments. “Im psyched to be partnered with Freeride Entertainment for 2009. We want riders to know what weve been up to over the years. If a picture can tell a thousand words then just imagine how many words can be told being featured in a NWD flick. The world is about to find out a whole lot more aboutHighland!
Freeride will be on location with Aaron Chase, Cameron Zink, Adam Hauck and Greg Watts in a few short days. “Uniting a power house like Freeride Entertainment with the progression and passion of Highland Mountain is a crazy enough idea, it just might work,” says Aaron Chase about the new deal.
Watch for some epic shots and video blogs on pinkbike.com, highlandmountain.com and nwdfilms.com in the days to come.
Matt Jamieson headed back to the UK after the Banks Jam… stripped his Mob down and sent her out for a fresh coat of paint to get this bike check together for you… enjoy.
